About the call

In the 2nd call of the European City Facility, conducted from 29 March to 31 May 2021, a total of 236 applications were submitted, showcasing a diverse interest across Europe. The call was funded by Horizon 2020. 

The bulk of these applications hailed from Southern Europe, accounting for 40% of the total, with Central and Eastern Europe following closely at 37%, and the remaining 23% coming from Nordic countries and Western Europe. Notably, Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Spain emerged as the top contributors. From this competitive pool, 68 municipalities, local authority groupings, and local public entities spanning the continent were selected to receive support.
